WEEK 4: Do Good Project Proposal

Date: 28 November 2023

User Needs Research:
In order to understand better about the user needs during grief, I decided to make a survey questions and send it out to individuals that would fit my target audience. I started by planning all the questions that I want to include in the survey:

11. On a scale of 1 to 5 (with 1 being the least and 5 being the most), how tech-savvy are you?

12. How long ago did you experience your loss?

13. What was your relationship to the ones you lost?

14. Are you currently still grieving for your loss right now?

Grief Experience Questions

1. Have you experienced any significant losses in your life? Please share with me about it.

2. Based on the previous question, how would you describe your overall experience with the grief?

3. What specific emotions have you encountered during your grieving process?

4. What specific challenges did you face in dealing with your grief?

5. How comfortable are you discussing your grief with others, including family relatives and friends?

15. What features would you find valuable in a grief-related app or online resource?

Aftermath Questions

1. What information or resources do you wish you had received when you first experienced grief?

2. Did you receive sufficient information about the various stages of grief and how to navigate them?

3. Do you believe there is enough awareness and education about grief in society?

4. Do you feel there is a stigma associated with grieving? If so, how has it impacted your willingness to seek help or share your experience?

I tried to make sure that all of the questions that is being asked are related to their experience with grief and how did they cope with their grief. I am aware of how sensitive this topic could be, so I tried my best to approach people and ask for their consent if they are comfortable to answer the survey. Because of the nature of this topic, it was quite hard to find people that is willing to answer the survey. However, I managed to get 16 respondents who are willing to share with me about their experiences. I appreciate their time and effort on answering the survey, and I would like to thank them for being able to help me in my project.

Below is some of the insights that I collected from the survey:

From this survey, I can start to define my target audience in specific. Defining my target audience will help to guide and inform my design process. With that, I will be creating my user persona for this project according to the data that I have collected. This persona will act as constant reference points, influencing decisions about layout, functionality, and overall user experience.

A lot of the respondents shared useful insights. From that, I started to refine CAPSOUL features so that it could cater to all user needs from the survey and from the user persona that I had created:

Referencing from last week's feedback, I decided to combine my first idea and the third idea to add more features for CAPSOUL. I believe that the features would be a great addition to the app. I also added a few more features that could be suitable for the app. However, after I finished sorting every features out and how it works, I was not sure which features are considered to be main features and side features. This happened because I had not really think of how far I would want to push each features to be. For now, the features that I listed out are still brief and not that specific yet.

Feedback:
The lecturer's feedback had mentioned that I have good findings from my survey, and the next step that I should take for the features is to be working more in depth for each features. Just like what I was concerned about, how far do I want to push the features? Some features of mine is quite forward, but I can still think about the features that can be expanded more.

I should also start on doing competitors analysis that is grief related or has similar features, and find out how I can improve my features to be better. I can also think about how to make users to come back and use this app again for their needs.
